The Hotel Class star ratings are provided to us from third-party partners, such as Giata, and national ratings organizations. These are found on the hotel's listing page in the “About” section.
Tripadvisor employees are unable to update, remove, add, or change these ratings. If you are a business representative and believe your star rating is incorrect, please contact your star rating provider.
In the countries where we partner with a national ratings organization, hotels normally need to join that organization in order to get a star rating from them. If a hotel is in one of those countries but does not partner with the national ratings organization, the hotel page will show a rating from Giata, whenever available.
If a hotel has a star rating from more than one partner, the national rating organization is given top priority, followed by Giata.
UK and Ireland: TheAA
New Zealand: Qualmark
South Africa: TGCSA
- All other countries: Giata
Please note that we receive these feeds periodically, and it may take a few weeks before seeing a star rating update reflected in our website. If you have already contacted your partner about an incorrect star rating, and it appears that they are sending the correct one to Tripadvisor, please contact us so that we can investigate this further.
